Her Story

Ògìrìkán Art Gallery presents Her Story, the debut solo exhibition by young Nigerian artist Edet Uweh. Making a striking entrance into the art world, Uweh offers a deeply felt and visually stunning series of oil paintings that center the beauty, strength, and resilience of women.

This powerful body of work elevates the lived experiences of women — particularly Black women — through intimate portrayals that honor their stories as history.

Even at the start of his career, Uweh demonstrates remarkable command of the medium. Rich with emotion, layered meaning, and fine detail, each painting is a tender meditation on love, rest, and relationship. Women appear not only as muses, but as matriarchs, dreamers, and quiet revolutionaries — captured in moments of reflection that speak volumes.

Her Story is both celebration and archive — a testament to womanhood in its full dignity and grace.
