Bloom

Ògìrìkán Art Gallery presents Bloom, a solo exhibition of paintings by Yaw Boateng structured around the cosmogonic ideal of coming of age: flourishing, radiant, and attaining full potential.

An invitation to witness humanity’s resilience and capacity for growth, Bloom is a visual metaphor for transformation — spiritual, emotional, physical, and cultural.

In vivid, youthfully invigorating colour, Boateng weaves narratives of identity, expectation, and hope.

Rooted in personal and collective experiences of life in Accra, his multidisciplinary approach comes alive through floral adaptations that serve as both visual language and metaphor for human becoming.

Reminiscent of the roses scattered around Botticelli’s Birth of Venus to herald emergence in full perfection, Boateng’s florals signal radiant unfolding. In works like Moment of Reflection and The Bridesmaid, bloom is not simply arrival, but contemplation, longing, and the question — When will my time come? In a fast-paced era of rapid transitions, Bloom offers a space for reflection and renewal — a salute to resilience, becoming, and the ongoing process of transformation.
